Ground zero for The Battle of Vincennes, a key skirmish won by the Americans during the Revolutionary War, Vincennes Indiana was originally founded in 1732 by French fur traders. The featured piece is an amazing look back into history; a city hall bond in the amount of $500 that was drawn in February 1887 and to be repaid in 1898. Judging by the audit stamps in the upper half of the certificate, the city made good on its promise. The document is signed by the Mayor and City Clerk, measures 15 1/2" x 15" and is framed to a size of a size of approximately 23" x 22."
