Here's another great baseball tobacco card from the 19th century, featuring Hall of Famer Tim Keefe of the New York Giants. One of the game's earliest stars, Smiling Tim actually had a rather mediocre campaign in 1889, winning just 28 games as compared to 42 in 1886, but his team took first place in the National League. Often cataloged as 1887, the N172 issue spanned a few years, but under close scrutiny, the copyright date on this card reads 1888. Graded by SGC at the 60 EX 5 level, a modest touch to the lower left is present, but the image is crisp and clearly defined.
