Offered is an exceptionally rare W575-2 panel of two cards with an interesting Knight Motors advertising reverse along with a 1924 Detroit Tigers schedule. Up until this most recent offering of this card there has been only one group of two cards in a single panel (Jake Daubert/ Joe Dugan) ever offered which sold for about $1000.00. The offered recently discovered panel doesn't feature to common players, but rather the greatest two players in the history of the game Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb. For as long as I can remember there has been differing sides as to whether or not W575-2's were in fact strip cards since they really bear no appearance of being strip cards but actually far more closely resemble caramel cards of the same time period. Finding the offered panel of two which absolutely has a factory cut rather than the hand cut of a strip card as well as the reverse advertising versus the blank backed appearance of a strip card strongly suggests that all along the inclusion of the W575-2 as a "W" or strip card release was incorrect. Also it appears that most likely the date of 1922 for the W575-2 issue may need to be looked into more closely as each of these two panel groups include a 1924 Detroit Tigers schedule on the reverse. Getting along to the juicy part of the card, the players offered! Both Ty Cobb as well as Babe Ruth appear on this exceptionally rare artifact The card has been authenticated by SGC as just that "Authentic" and appears in impressive condition with several small wrinkles apparent at the left wedge running into Ruth's side panel as well as more noticeably along the middle fold lines of the panel. It should be noted that we sold a PSA 5 example of the Ruth card for $14,185.00 in our September 2017 auction. An interesting and imagination conjuring item of the utmost in rarity featuring two of the stalwarts of the game, sounds like a pretty good combination!
