The current high bids for the cumulative group of singles, $178,993.00, is currently higher than the total for the complete set, $83,167.00 (this lot is currently winning)
Though a career .307 hitter, left fielder Joe Vosmik exceeded all expectations in 1935 when he batted .348 and led the American League with 47 doubles, 20 triples and 216 hits, finishing 3rd in MVP voting to Hank Greenberg and Wes Ferrell. With so many Hall of Famers included in the 1933 DeLong series, you wouldn't think Vosmik would be near the top of any collector's needs list, but we're talking about a 24-card set that rarely sees any of its members reach the NM/MT level, with Vosmik's issue being one of the toughest. Only 3 others match the featured card at the PSA 8 level with none graded higher, putting all PSA Set Registry competitors on notice that the rankings are due for a shake-up. Nicely framed with accurate registration, well-saturated color and a perimeter that hits the mark for NM/MT quality.
