Jimmie Foxx was the 1932 American League Most Valuable Player and repeated the honor in 1933, dropping his home run and RBI totals but adding a batting title to successfully achieve the Triple Crown. Foxx's 429 home runs at 30 years old stirred the debate as to whether "The Beast" could actually catch Ruth and become the all-time home run king. Of course, Foxx's dubious "life choices" caught up to him and his home run total fell dramatically, hitting just 34 round-trippers after the age of 32. This near perfectly framed PSA 8 example of Jimmie Foxx's 1933 DeLong card is matched by just 8 others on the PSA population report with no specimens graded higher, and it's hard to imagine any of those others stacking up this one in terms of aesthetics. Each corner easily meets NM/MT standards and one might argue that at left endpoints could challenge the next grading tier. The surface colors, a defining characteristic of the coveted DeLong series, are well-preserved and show no evidence of fading while the typically toned reverse carries bold, crisp black print that appears factory fresh. An amazing piece from an iconic one-hit wonder!
