Perhaps best known as the president of the American League from 1959 through the end of 1973, Joe Cronin was a pretty decent ballplayer as well, surpassing the 100 RBI mark eight times during his playing career and amassing 2,285 base hits. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1956, along with Hank Greenberg. The offered example of his 1933 Goudey card has been graded NM/MT 8 by PSA, with a deeply saturated blue backdrop supporting the crisply detailed image of the player quite nicely. To date, just two examples have graded higher by the Newport Beach firm.
