Issued following "Joltin' Joe's" rookie season, this example of Joe DiMaggio is part of the elusive set of 1937 O-Pee-Chee cards. With Babe Ruth having completed his legendary career with the Bombers and Lou Gehrig entering his mid-30s, it was DiMaggio's 29 homers, 125 RBI, .323 batting average and league leading 15 triples that announced to the world that the next great Yankee legend had arrived. The featured item is one of only 4 to earn a grade of PSA 8 with none graded higher, making it a prime specimen to bolster the overall GPA of a top-rated collection. Spared the usual folding along the die-cut frame to remain perfectly intact, the card displays a wonderful, sharply delivered image DiMaggio with four distinct corners that ably represent the grade. The centering is accurate and the bilingual biographies on the reverse are easy to read (assuming you understand French). A tough find in any condition, but this specimen is truly elite!
