Rookie cards of Hall of Famers, especially from the 1930s-1950s, have seen an exponential rise in demand over the last few years. No issue has enjoyed this renaissance of popularity more than the king of all post-war debuts, the 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle. With two PSA 8 examples having recently topped the $200,000 mark and more flawed examples like PSA 6's routinely selling northward of $20,000, the opportunity to land a visually stunning specimen such as the card featured here is virtually impossible for all but the most advanced of collectors. This example of Mickey Mantle's rookie card is as eye-grabbing as any collector could hope for, excellently framed with deep, clean color and precise registration. The card has been graded NM/MT 8 by Sports Card Direct, but lacking the track record of performance afforded notables such as PSA and SGC, should be taken lightly. In our estimation, although we are not professional graders, the card does not appear to be trimmed and, as stated, outperforms the large majority of examples in existence from an eye-appeal standpoint. We must make it clear that we are selling the card exactly as is and final, offering no assurances nor should the winning bidder have any expectations that the card will cross over if submitted to another grading service. Simply put, if you are in the market for one of the nicest looking Mickey Mantle rookie cards, you won't find a more pleasing example nor a better value.
