The Topps Company's first significant foray into the gridiron is also one of the company's best. The 1955 Topps All-American set features 100 cards of the greatest college football players of all time, with memorable issues of Jim Thorpe, Knute Rockne, Red Grange, The Four Horsemen (Notre Dame's 1924 backfield), and former Supreme Court Justice Whizzer White as well as a lengthy list of challenging short-printed rookies and Hall of Famers. The appealing and novel design of the front of the cards, paired with a back that features a short highlight blurb as well as a trivia cartoon with the answer printed upside down, makes it a wonderful debut collection. Offered here is a complete set with each card but one graded PSA 8. The remaining card of the set, #81 Cotton Warburton, grades out at a PSA 7 NM.
