While the 1951 Bowman is his true rookie card and the 1952 Topps is the gold standard of post-war issues, the 1956 Topps card of Mickey Mantle might actually be his most popular to mainstream hobbyists. Not only does it provide plenty of color and a fantastic overall central image of the Yankees legend but it serves as a symbol for Mantle's amazing triple crown season. Offered is a fantastic 1956 Topps example of "The Mick" that marks his triumphant return to the Topps family after a brief stint with Bowman. This card has been graded NM/MT 8 by PSA, showing light, uniform corner touches that are completely consistent with the opined grade, along with a slight rough cut around the perimeter. Centering is virtually dead-on and the bold, bright colors are accentuated by a glistening application of original factory gloss. Even the slate gray reverse with its spectrum of pigments and deeply printed bio stands up to the advanced grade. An incredibly sharp card that seems to increase in value by the day.
