In 1957, Topps elected to use real-life photos of their subjects and portrayed Mickey Mantle "post swing." The 1958 Topps card of Mantle featured here also has a real image but is displayed as a portrait, similar to the images in the 1954 Topps series in which Mantle was noticeably absent. With a Triple Crown season already under his belt, Mantle followed up with 34 dingers and a career best .365 batting average. Graded a very impressive PSA 8, this treasure shows a well-registered image of "The Commerce Comet" that is supported by a glowing orange background with a blue nameplate that is unblemished. The corners and edges are solidly in the NM/MT classification with the glossy obverse and near perfect centering complemented by the near perfect presentation of the reverse. A tremendous Mantle card that can rival any in its class, and maybe even some graded higher.
