While Topps had a stranglehold on the baseball card market with all but Ted Williams under contract, Fleer followed up their 1959 series, devoted entirely to "Teddy Ballgame," surrounding Williams with a set consisting of some of the greatest baseball icons of all-time. Surviving unopened packs from this series are extremely rare, but this near full box, consisting of 20 out of the 24 packs plus the original display box, is something that may never be offered again. Examined by Steve Hart (BBCE), the evaluation is that 10 of the packs have mildew damage while the other 10 packs are NM to NM/MT. Many cards in this series have yet to record a single PSA 10 specimen and no card in the set has a GEM MINT pop higher than five, making this a potentially lucrative investment for the collector who thrives on rolling the dice. Letter of Authenticity from BBCE.
