Any card from the condition-sensitive 1963 Topps series that earns a grade of PSA 9 is impressive, but when the card happens to be of Mickey Mantle, it's like hitting the lottery. With just 2 graded higher, there are plenty of PSA Set Registry competitors out there that could really make a move in the standing by corraling this beauty. Although his previous year's home run total had dipped to "only" 30 round-trippers, his success in the post-season, as well as the three American League MVP awards under his belt, ensured that Mantle was still the darling of the baseball world. His 1963 Topps card, with the possible exception of Pete Rose's debut pasteboard, remains the key piece to the colorful collection. The featured card provides the advanced hobbyist with an unusually stunning, high-end rendition of Mantle's 1963 Topps issue. A bright green nameplate engulfs the bottom portion showing virtually no evidence of chipping with the corners appearing at near perfection. The centering is dead-on accurate and the surface is encased in a generous layer of luscious gloss that seemingly has electrified this majestic card and gives the appearance as though it is fresh out of the pack. The reverse is equal to the task with bright yellow color with deep black print that shows no sign of aging. A stunning card offered in MINT condition
