No other Topps set so fittingly captures the mood of the times than the 1972 issue. It's funky, psychedelic design and wild color schemes mirror the "mod" temperament of the early 1970s and seemed out of control at 787 cards (scaled back to 660 from 1973-1977). Carlton Fisk appears on the only Hall of Fame rookie card but plenty of baseball legends and tough high number cards have made the set popular for over 40 years.
