Often considered the American League's version of Tom Seaver, Hall of Famer Jim Palmer was the ace of an impressive Baltimore Orioles pitching staff that won six American League pennants and three World Series titles over his career. Palmer broke the 20-win barrier eight times over the course of his career and led the AL in wins for three consecutive seasons from 1975-77. He was even sharper when it came to the post-season, recording a career 8-3 record with a 2.61 ERA. Palmer won the first of his three Cy Young Awards in 1973 and wore this autographed road jersey while doing it, leading the team to 97 wins and a first-place finish in the American League East division. The size 42 Wilson label appears inside the collar with a team stitched "73 Set 1" affixed to the lower left front tail. Some mild puckering of the jersey numbers is evident with light staining from use. The "Orioles 22" on the front and "Palmer 22" on the back all sewn on in two-tone orange and black tackle twill, and Palmer has signed the jersey in black marker with a "1973 Cy Young" inscription. Palmer won 22 games that year and led the AL with a 2.40 ERA, edging out Nolan Ryan for baseball's top pitching award and finishing 2nd to Reggie Jackson for AL MVP honors. A magnificent gamer from one of the era's greatest hurlers. LOA from JSA for the signature and Sports Investors Authentication.
