It's the key to the 1973 Topps set, but finding a PSA 9 MINT example like the one featured here has proven to be easier said than done. Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt is paired with Ron Cey and John Hilton on this 1973 rookie third baseman card that was issued with the higher-numbered cards from the 1973 Topps release. While Cey turned into a fine third baseman for many years, it was Mike Schmidt that set a new standard for players at the "hot corner" by clobbering 548 round-trippers and leading the National League eight times in the category. Nicely centered with four strong upper-end MINT corners and precise images with a noticeable absence of the annoying print that so often plagues this card. Even the reverse has an appearance of pack-fresh superiority. A thoroughly elite example of this important issue.
