Craig Morton spent nine years as a Dallas Cowboy quarterback, but he was on the opposite sideline for Super Bowl XII. Morton was now the starting quarterback for the AFC champion Broncos, while Roger Staubach, the man who replaced him in Dallas, would start at quarterback for the Cowboys. The first Super Bowl to be played indoors was billed as a battle of Dallas’ precision offense versus the strength of Denver’s “Orange Crush” defense, with Dallas ultimately emerging victorious 27-10. Proudly offered is a special piece of history from that day, the game-used jersey of Broncos QB Craig Morton, worn during Super Bowl XII and autographed. Morton actually switched jerseys at halftime because the first was too tight, and gave one of those jerseys to the Broncos Equipment Manager after the game. On the front tail is a Russell Athletic size 46 label, with screened on stripes and numbers on the front, back, and sleeves. The letters “MORTON” are ironed onto a tackle twill stitched nameplate. A faded but legible blue sharpie signature of Morton appears on the back number “7”, reading “Craig Morton, 1978 Super Bowl XII Game Worn Jersey.” An LOA from the Broncos Equipment Manager is present, as is a letter from Craig Morton explaining how he had worn two jerseys in that game but could not recall which he gave to the Equipment Manager. A MEARS authentic sticker is affixed inside the tail but no LOA is present. Additional LOA from Mile High Card Co. will be provided.
