There seems to be no limit to the rise in popularity of the Fleer basketball cards from the mid-1980s as the inaugural 1986-87 Fleer basketball series continues to climb to unprecedented levels and the featured 1987-88 Fleer box appears on a trajectory to make the same journey. If recent prices realized for second-year Michael Jordan cards are any indication, we're already on our way. The box contains 36 packs of 12 cards per pack, plus one sticker, and as any set-builder knows, the cards and the stickers of this series are even more centering-challenged than the previous year, making GEM MINT examples worth a hefty premium. While nothing beats the panache of pulling a Michael Jordan RC or any one of a host of other key debut issues that the 1986 Fleer box has to offer, this one can still be had for just a fraction of the 1986 box and should continue to trek upwards in value.
