After Mickey Mantle's illustrious career came to a conclusion at the end of the 1968 season, baseball aficionados questioned whether they would ever see a switch-hitting home run hitter of his kind ever again. They got their answer less than a decade later. Though Hall of Famer Eddie Murray never hit 35 homers or reached 200 hits in a season, his consistent excellence earned him the nickname "Steady Eddie." Murray hit between 20 to 33 round-trippers and knocked in 80 runs in 17 of his 21 seasons while batting .280 or better 14 times. At the age of 40, Murray joined the list of elites in the legendary 500 home run club. Offered is a game-used Louisville Slugger model M275 bat, used by Eddie Murray during the 1991 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. At 35 1/2" and 33.5 ounces, the uncracked bat shows excellent evidence of game use with ball marks, black ink transfers, black and blue bat rack streaks and stitch impressions displayed along the surface. Murray's number "33" is written in black marker on the knob and highlighted in red. Strong remnants of pine tar and five rings of tape are present on the upper and lower parts of the handle respectively, a telltale Murray trait, and a black marker signature appears on the barrel below the signature stamp. LOA from John Taube - PSA/DNA.
