If there's one item in all of the hobby that personifies a world-class collection, it's a single-signed Babe Ruth baseball. "The Bambino" did plenty of autographing during his time, gladly taking in all of the admiration and accolades deserving of the most celebrated personality in American history, but his premature death at the age of 53 has left many collectors unable to acquire this landmark piece. Truth be told, Babe could still be alive today at the age of 126 and he still wouldn't have been able to meet the demand for his harmonious penning. And that leaves us with this wonderful orb, fresh to the hobby with one of the most eye-pleasing signatures of Ruth that we've seen on a baseball. Penned on a Wilson Pacific Coast League sphere, Ruth has added his signature virtually dead-center between the stitches on the sweet spot as though he measured what would be the precise location to place the autograph. From start to finish, the fine-tip signature is bold and sharp with some background spotting of the ball added additional charm without impeding upon the legend's handiwork. There might be stronger (and with it, far pricier) examples out there, but this beauty is just right, the ultimate embodiment of a single-signed Babe Ruth baseball. Full LOA from JSA.
