Hall of Famer Bill Dickey said "If I were catching blindfolded, I'd always know when it was (Jimmie) Foxx who connected. He hit the ball harder than anyone else”. The powerful Sudlersville, Maryland farm boy signed his first professional contract with the nearby Easton minor league club at age 16, and made his Major League debut before the end of his junior year in high school. Foxx played sparingly during his first few years in the big leagues, blocked at his regular position, catcher, by another future Hall of Famer, Mickey Cochrane. Hall of Fame backstop Rick Ferrell said of Foxx’s ability behind the plate “If it wasn’t for Cochrane, Foxx would have developed into a great catcher. He was the greatest all-around athlete I ever saw play Major League Baseball”. Offered is a captivating single signed ball of Jimmie Foxx presented on a an OAL (Cronin) ball with a perfectly scripted signature of "Double XX" on the sweet spot. The signature rates as a 6 against the backdrop of a ball that we rate a 6 as well. A terrific example of this famed member of the 500 HR club. LOA PSA/DNA (Full Letter), JSA (Full Letter)
