Putting together a world class 1986 Fleer basketball set, along with the supplemental sticker set, is impressive enough for any advanced collector. But to assemble the set with virtually every item signed by the player? That's unbelievable! We're talking about 131 cards (the checklist no longer signs autographs) and another 11 in the sticker series. Just think for a moment what that entails and, more importantly, who it features. Let's put aside the obvious long time superstars like Abdul-Jabbar, Bird, Erving, and Magic, all of whom also have signed stickers in this collection. What really makes this special is the hit parade of autographed rookie cards, with Barkley, Drexler, Dumars, Ewing, K. Malone, Mullin Olajuwon, I. Thomas, Wilkins, Worthy, and of course, Michael Jordan. Every card in the set and sticker series is authenticated by Beckett with just two autographs (#36 Gervin and #8 Jordan sticker, included but not signed) needed for completion. The cards are NM to MINT overall and the #57 Jordan is near perfectly centered. It's surprising to note that 12 members of the collection are deceased; #12 Manute Bol, 19 Pat Cummings, 24 Darryl Dawkins, 50 Dennis Johnson, 66 Maurice Lucas, 69 Moses Malone, 74 Mike Mitchell, 95 Dan Roundfield, 103 Derek Smith, 113 Waymon Tisdale, 116 Mel Turpin and 130 Orlando Woolridge. The determination required to assemble such a collection is truly admirable, and now it is going to the highest bidder!
