From 1941-1953, the Brooklyn Dodgers and crosstown rival New York Yankees met in the World Series five times with each contest resulting in a Yankees world championship. But in 1955, the chant of "wait 'til next year" was no longer needed the Dodgers finally broke through and snatched the crown from the Yankees in a thrilling 7-game series. Johnny Podres' complete game shutout finally moved the trophy out of the Bronx, earning him the series MVP award over four others in the lineup that would go onto Hall of Fame careers. Legendary hurler Sandy Koufax was but a promising rookie that year and chipped in with five starts that year, though at age 19 was deemed too green to be thrust into such a pressure-packed role for the Series. But Koufax's signature appears on this 1955 Dodgers team-signed ball just under Roy Campanella, along with 23 other members of that legendary team. Unlike virtually every '55 Dodgers team-signed ball out there, this is one of the sharpest we've ever seen and contains absolutely no clubhouse signatures. Jackie Robinson, Walter Alston (sweet spot), Pee Wee Reese, Gil Hodges and even the very difficult signature of Don Hoak and present ant authenticated by PSA/DNA. Also includes Zimmer, Kellert, Templeton, Furillo, Spooner, Lebine, Amaros, Bessent, Walker, Moryn, Craig, Howell, Gilliam, Erskine, Meyer, Shuba, Roebuck and Griffin (clubhouse manager). LOA from JSA.
