After popping 22 homers with 14 triples and a .362 batting average in the minors in 1953, 2nd baseman Henry Aaron went to play in the Caguas-Guayama Winter League in Puerto Rico to fine-tune his skills for a jump to the majors. Manager Mickey Owen adjusted Aaron's batting stance, helping him better hit to all parts of the field while moving him from second base to the outfield. The presented ball carries 18 signatures from that 1953-54 Caguas-Guayama league championship team (noted in Spanish on the ball in an unknown hand), including one of the earliest known signatures of "Henry" Aaron. The Wilson “Official Major League” ball is lightly toned with some minor nicks and abrasions but presents extremely well. In addition to Aaron and Owen, other signatures of players that made it to the majors include Bob Buhl, Brooks Lawrence, Ray Crone, Rance Pless and Roberto Vargas. LOA from JSA.
