Credited along with fellow artist Alton Kelly as the creator of the Grateful Dead's iconic skull and roses imagery, Stanley Mouse was the primary artist for the band's concert posters and album covers for the majority of its career. His original artwork is highly sought after by Deadheads and rock and roll memorabilia worldwide. Aside from the skull and roses, Mouse's most memorable Grateful Dead imagery is that of the jester with a mandolin, the image of which was used as the cover of the Grateful Dead Songbook, published November 1972 and containing music and lyrics for the albums Workingman's Dead and American Beauty. Offered here is a pencil and ink rendition of the iconic image, bearing his unmistakable signature and dated 12/2003 with "Boulder" notated. Matted with visible dimensions of 12" x 16" at the top of the arch with the frame measuring 25" x 30". A fantastic item for any devoted Deadhead!
