While the 1964 Topps set was kind of a disappointment to collectors that preferred more color and more rookie cards, the 1965 collection came back strong with a no-nonsense design that captures the timelessness of the great American pastime. Due to significant debut issues of Tony Perez, Catfish Hunter, Joe Morgan, and Steve Carlton, as well as a slew of single printed high-numbers, the '65 Topps set was and continues to be a huge success with collectors. The offered 1965 Topps complete set is of considerable content at 5% NM/MT, 15% NM, 25% EX/MT, 40% EX and 15% VG/EX. Eleven cards are graded: PSA 8 #526 Hunter RC and 540 Brock, PSA 7 #160 Clemente, 170 Aaron, 207 Rose, 400 Killebrew and 477 Carlton RC, PSA 6 #134 WS Game 3 (Mantle), 250 Mays and 300 Koufax, and PSA 5 #581 Perez RC. The rest of the set includes #16 Morgan RC VG/EX+, 120 F. Robinson EX/MT+, 150 B. Robinson EX/MT+, 155 Maris NM (OC), 205 Spahn EX, 320 Gibson EX (MK), 330 Ford EX, 385 Yastrzemski EX+, 470 Berra EX+, 500 Mathews EX and 510 Banks VG/EX. Card #350 Mickey Mantle appears EX/MT but was deemed to be trimmed by PSA.
