One of the most memorable snapshots ever taken from "The Sweet Science" is this photo of Muhammad Ali standing over the fallen body of heavily favored Sonny Liston, who got off the canvas but was unable to answer the bell for the 7th round. Ali, then known as Cassius Clay, was a huge underdog in the betting pool but, in his typical fashion, predicted he would knock Liston out. He was right. Photos of this scene that carry Ali's autograph are highly collectable but, along with the other oversized photo in this auction, this is the first time we've ever seen one of this magnitude, measuring 40" x 30" (not on thin paper like a poster). The silver marker signature of Ali is impressive, measuring almost 9 inches across in bold silver marker. Rolled up and ready to be framed, the discoloration on the right side in our photo is glare and not an imperfection of the piece. A fantastic item that, once framed, would command attention in any room. LOA from JSA.
