Like the 1964 Kahn's Wieners card of Pete Rose offered in this auction, this 1965 card has also earned the top mark of GEM MINT as designated by PSA. Slightly higher in population at the PSA 10 level compared to the '64 card (5 vs. 4), an example such as this has not been made available through public sale for several years. This time, Rose is captured in a fielding pose with noticeably deeper pigments that make it more susceptible to chipping around the perimeter than the previous year's issue, though the featured specimen shows absolutely none. The reverse is a bright white canvas with clean black print, displaying Rose's rather pedestrian accomplishments to date, but "Charlie Hustle" was about to complete the first of many, many, many .300+ seasons. Another fantastic example for the advanced collector and an especially desirably piece for Pete Rose fans.
