Firmly placed among the greatest college football coaches in NCAA history, Lou Holtz guided his teams to a combined 249 victories over 33 seasons with 22 bowl appearances and a National Championship with Notre Dame in 1988. By defeating #3 ranked West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl 34-21 behind the play of QB Tony Rice and WR "Rocket" Ismael, the Fighting Irish earned their first championship ring since 1977 and the last of their 11 titles on record. Presented is a salesman's sample of the ring that was created for Coach Lou Holtz for his championship efforts. Sporting a truly elegant design, the interlocking blue enamel "ND" design is surrounded by faux diamonds with "19" and "88" on either side, the left side reading "Notre Dame Trust Love Commitment" with the right side showing "Holtz 12-0-0" and a Notre Dame helmet. Stamped "LGB 10K" and "2SA-14250" on the inside. A great piece for any fan of the Fighting Irish.
