Steve Chilcott! In the 1966 major league draft, the lowly New York Mets selected catcher Steve Chilcott with the #1 pick and he proceeded to flame out without ever having caught a major league pitch. Selected #2 in the draft by the Kansas City Athletics was Reggie Jackson. He ... well, he was better. "Mr. October" is one of the few players in major league history who became a hero in two cities, first leading the Oakland A's to three consecutive world championships from 1972-74 and then doing the same for the Yankees in 1977 and 1978, earning a World Series MVP once for each team. The featured game-used bat dates to the early years of Reggie's long and storied career with a labeling period of 1969-72. The Louisville Slugger model K75 club is 35.5 inches and 35 ounces with fantastic game use, displaying ball and ball stitch marks covering the surface, plenty of pine tar remnants on the handle and several green bat rack streaks. Reggie's number "9" is written in black marker on the knob (which also featured a stamping of the model K75 and a black marker Reggie Jackson signature appears just to the left of the facsimile on the barrel, matching it almost perfectly.
