If you've seen the film "42" then you know all about Jackie Robinson's tryout with the Brooklyn Dodgers organization at their Sanford, Florida spring training complex. Impressed with his ability, Robinson was signed to a contract with International League Montreal Royals, where he batted .349 and stole 40 bases. This 7 x 9 Original News Service Photo (Acme Newspapers) captures a detailed portrait of the baseball pioneer one full season before making major league baseball history with the reverse carrying a photographer's stamp, newspaper teletype and a handwritten date of 3/5/1946. A great snapshot into baseball history, before it happened. LOA from PSA/DNA.
