There's never been a more feared hitter in the history of baseball than Barry Bonds. Consistently posting 30 to 45 home runs year after year, all while leading the league walks almost every season in an attempt to pitch around him, In 2001, Bonds exploded for a record-setting 73 round trippers in just 476 official at-bats given a free pass 177 times by pitchers that wanted no part of it. Bonds was even intentionally walked in a game with the bases loaded! His career concluded after 22 seasons, Bonds lords supreme as the all time home run king with 762 round trippers. The featured bat was used by Bonds during that historic 2001 season, a Maple Company Sam Bat model 2K1 that is uncracked and shows terrific evidence of game use. Ball marks and stitch marks are clearly visible all around the surface, as are cleat marks and bat rack streaks. Bonds' trademark tape on the handle and criss cross pattern moving 12 inches up the handle are exhibited with the Sam Bat "Canadian Leaf" sticker on the knob. Inside the cupped barrel are notations pertaining to length (34), weight (31.7 oz.), date of manufacture (8/20/01), model number (2K1) and his initials (B.B.). A silver marker Barry Bonds signature appears to the left of the barrel stamping. An outstanding example from one of baseball's most historic seasons. LOA from John Taube - PSA/DNA with a grade of GU 10.
