On June 28, 1998 the San Diego Padres played host to the Anaheim Angels and got trounced 11-3. One bright spot, however, came when future Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn collected his 2,866th career base hit while wearing this blue Russell Athletic home jersey. This shirt is a size 50 with the proper tagging in the left front tail, with game date and hit number written in black fiber tip marker. The individual letters of the name are sewn directly to the back of the shirt, and the double tackle twill numerals are positioned properly beneath, with the "1" displaying Gwynn's unmistakable signature. The Padres logo is sewn onto the left sleeve while the right is embroidered with Russel Athletic's "R".
