A decade before his infamous involvement in the "Black Sox" scandal, fireballer Eddie Cicotte wore socks of a different color in Boston and appeared in the E95 Philadelphia Caramel series. Cicotte was just beginning a great career that would abruptly end in 1920 after consecutive 20-win seasons. The offered card, graded PSA 5, has no problem flaunting its stuff as well, with a robust central image and brilliant white perimeter offsetting the usual centering shift. A tough card from a tough series, perfect for vintage collectors and Black Sox aficionados in particular.
