The Bowman company made a splash in the sports card world in 1948, producing baseball, football and basketball sets that are considered classics today. But conspicuously missing was the sport of hockey, which finally had a set to call their own three years later when Parkhurst Products of Toronto, Canada created a crude but intriguing 105-card set. The cards were not only unrefined in design, they were clumsily cut and packaged as well, but with hockey legends, Gordie Howe, Terry Sawchuk (PSA 8) and Maurice Richard (PSA 6.5) make their pasteboard debuts, the 1951 "Parkie" set is iconic in its own right. The offered near complete collection is extremely impressive with most of the cards PSA graded and a large portion reaching the PSA 7 to PSA 8 level, topped off by a PSA 9 #69 Reise and a PSA 8.5 #63 Delvecchio. Other graded cards are: PSA 8 (16 cards) - #23, 24, 29 Schmidt, 32, 42, 43, 47 Lumley, 48 Bentley, 60, 61 Sawchuk, 67, 68, 73, 96, 98 Laprade and 99. PSA 7.5 (2 cards) - #71 and 89. PSA 7 (28 cards) - #9, 10 Harvey, 16, 36, 37 Gadsby, 38, 39, 41, 44, 45, 46, 53 Stewart, 59, 72 Meeker, 77, 78, 79, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86 Kennedy, 87, 88, 90, 91, 95 and 97. PSA 6.5 (2 cards) - #4 M. Richard and 62. PSA 6 (4 cards) - #11, 14 Geoffrion, 52 Winning Goal and 76 Rollins. PSA 5 (3 cards) - #21, 40 and 92. PSA 4.5 - #25. PSA 4 - #20. Four cards were deemed minimum size by PSA and have an appearance of the following: #26 Quackenbush NM+, 55 Kelly NM/MT (OC), 56 Lindsay NM/MT and 94 Stanley NM/MT. The rest of the collection is 30% NM, 30% EX/MT, 20% EX and 20% lower with #1 Lach EX+, 5 Olmstead VG/EX, 15 McNeil EX/MT (OC), 49 Mosienko EX/MT+ and 64 Abel EX. Needed to complete the set are #6, 17, 22, 27, 34, 66 Howe, 101, 104 Raynor and 105 Conacher with an extra #23 Henderson EX/MT.
