The Yankees have had their share of iconic baseball players that have since moved on to Hall of Fame immortality, but one of the secrets of their half-century-long dynasty was a strong supporting cast that stepped up their game when the superstars had their slumps. For nine seasons, Tony Kubek helped keep New York Yankees dominance humming along, filling in at shortstop, third base and the outfield. Though his day in Cooperstown will not be coming, the 1957 A. L. Rookie of the Year played in the World Series six times, winning three championships and was selected to three all-star games. One of those all-star nods came during the 1959 season when Kubek wore this Wilson size 42 flannel home gamer. As was the custom at the time, the jersey was repurposed for use in the minor leagues when new jerseys were put into service (even an organization as grand as the New York Yankees took cost-cutting measures whenever possible) but the original cursive "Kubek" and "1959" swatches inside the collar and on the front, respectively, remain intact. All other identifiers were changed when the jersey hit the minors and have been replaced to their original state. An amazing piece of pinstriped history from the glory days of Mantle, Berra and Ford. LOA from Mile High Card Company.
