Receiving an annual stipend for allowing Topps to use his likeness on their baseball cards, this check is written to Hall of Famer Willie Mays with "The Say Hey Kid" endposing it on the reverse. Like many other superstars who were called upon so frequently for autographs that their signatures changed over the course of time, Mays' signature here is very different than most of the examples from the 60s and 70s, captured very early in his amazing career. A small part of the signature is missing from the tear in the check but it is very legible. A fantastic piece of baseball history from the golden age of the 1950s.
