Known as the “Boston Strong Boy”, John L. Sullivan was recognized as the all time greatest heavyweight bare-knuckled boxing champion, retaining his status for 10 years after boxing gloves were introduced in 1882. He is credited with winning over 450 fights and entered the boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. A fantastic image of Sullivan graces the canvas of this 1901 Ogden's Ltd. card, extremely well-centered with minimal chipping at the very extreme tips of the vulnerable black edges. The reverse seems impossibly bright and well-printed for its age. A great opportunity for any boxing card collector.
