When you think of issues that define the beginning of Ty Cobb's unprecedented career, the first item that comes to mind for advanced collectors is the 1907-09 Dietsche Postcard. With his eyes hidden in shadow by his cap and the backdrop blackened out, the image of Detroit’s young right fielder exudes a mild aura of mystery. But even though he had yet to be a full-time starter, the reverse of the postcard foreshadows his career, touting him as “one of the most sensational players the game has ever had.” The featured piece is graded SGC 5 EX and bolsters the stunning image of "The Georgia Peach" with a reverse that is bright, untainted, and ably shows off the sharpness of the corners and edges. It's rare to find a postcard such as this that is unused, which helps account for the relatively high SGC grade. A signature piece to headline an elite Ty Cobb collection.
