Ty Cobb may not have been a well-known name entering the 1907 season, but "The Georgia Peach's" performance as a full-time starter launched the Detroit Tigers from being a mediocre team to American League Champions. Like the batting variation of Ty Cobb's 1907 Dietsche Detroit Tigers Postcards, this "fielding" example is unused for its intended purpose but shows a bit more mileage on the reverse and around the perimeter that lands it at a PSA 2 GOOD grade. However, this variation appears to be much more scarce as PSA has graded 74 of the batting variety but only 14 of the fielding variety, so if you still have holes in completing your Ty Cobb library, this is likely on your want list. Cobb appears to be poised to make a great defensive play with the background blacked out. The corners show rounding and the colored edges have moderate chipping, with a light crease on the surface, all of which is commensurate with the grade and, quite frankly, gives the century-plus-year-old card an added feature of vintage charm. An incredible piece, one of Cobb's most elusive issues!
