During his 24-year big league career, Cobb captured a record 11 or 12 batting titles depending on what statistical bureau you are using, batted over .400 three times, and won the 1909 Triple Crown. Upon his retirement, he held career records for games played 3,035, at-bats 11,434, runs 2,246, hits 4,189, total bases 5,854, and batting average .366. Cobb also retired with the twentieth-century record for most career stolen bases, with 892. Perhaps the most competitive and complex personality ever to appear in a big league uniform, Ty Cobb was the dominant player in the American League during the Deadball Era, and arguably the greatest player in the history of the game. the offered keepsake ranks up there with any Cobb memento and the featured card provides a wonderful rendition of the offered grade. Pleasingly well centered with deep bold patina and astounding three-dimensional color. The depth of the image allows the onlooker a passport in time travel as if viewing the central image of this card at the time of its dispersant. Slight edge wear accounts for the harsh grade with the characteristics of the card more appealing than its technical assessment. The reverse offers a splendid presentation of Piedmont cigarette advertisement with no apparent staining. A terrific copy of this important issue of the great Ty Cobb.
