Any item from 1916 featuring the World Champion Boston Red Sox immediately conjures up visions of the team's future legend, Babe Ruth, who led the American League with a 1.75 ERA and was 1-0 with a 0.64 ERA in the World Series. The 2.25" circular image of Red Sox manager Bill Carrigan has an "A. R. Lopez & Bro., Boston" stamp on the paper reverse. The ribbon's top is stitched to the top edge of a red stocking 10" tall, which can be unfolded to a red sock that is 16 1/2" tall. The stocking has small areas of fabric loss that are insignificant and add to the overall nostalgia of the piece, while the ornate brass bar displaying "BOSTON" is well-preserved with only minor wear. This is a truly fantastic piece, and one of the few that has survived for over a century.
