One of "The Babe's" most significant cards as it was issued just one year after joining the Yankees. Ruth had just captured his third consecutive American League home run crown in 1920 with 54 round-trippers and his time on the mound had dropped to one four-inning appearance. Yes, Babe Ruth was no longer an ace pitcher; he was much more, and the best was yet to come! The other significant factor as seen on this SGC 2 example is that Ruth is still pictured in his Boston Red Sox uniform though "New York - Americans" is started at the bottom. The centering is very impressive and the corners and edges look far better than you'd likely expect for the modest grade. The reverse has a smattering of stray ink, the likely culprit that tempers the overall grade, but to find an example that projects as well as this for the grade is a tall task.
