The 1933 Goudey series is the most coveted pre-war "project" of avid baseball card collectors. With it's seemingly endless list of Hall of Famers, not to mention multiple appearances by Ruth and Gehrig, many collectors opt to assemble a minimal-grade collection, while more well-funded collectors take on the challenge of mid to upper-level assemblages. But the offered collection hits the "sweet-spot" for many aficionados; a perfect balance between condition and cost that provides a great value. With each card graded PSA 4, the appearance of the Babe, the Iron Horse, Speaker, Foxx, Traynor, Ott and all the others is significantly stronger than PSA 3 examples, but not so far behind PSA 5 specimens, which would amount to a huge jump in cost. Only 3 cards are needed for completion; the famed #106 Lajoie (which many collectors consider to be a novelty card and not part of the actual set), along with Babe Ruth cards #53 and 144, which are not difficult to find at this grade level. Starting with card #1 Benny Bengough and including the two Babe Ruth and two Lou Gehrig cards that highlight the collection, one can't help but notice that a good portion of the cards are relatively well-centered with an exceptionally pleasing appearance, exhibiting consistent wear indicative of the grade. There are also plenty of bold, well-preserved background colors as well; one of the favored characteristics of the legendary '33 Goudey series. If you've always wanted a respectable Goudey collection that wasn't "all over the board" grade-wise, you won't find a more consistent collection than this!
