If you ask the casual vintage collector what card they are most willing to spend five figures to acquire, chances are the answer is a lower-grade 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth. Of the four choices, the yellow background card #53 would likely top the list. The featured example of "The Babe" stands up well to its modest grade, showing a mild but unobjectionable shift toward the right edge with rounded corners commensurate with the grade, but also offering a radiant central image with bright yellow pigmentation supporting both the detailed image of Ruth and the bright red plate that promotes "BIG LEAGUE CHEWING GUM." The reverse shows a similar positioning bias but to a lesser extent with solid green print that cleanly shows the baseball legend's heroic exploits to that point in his career. If it's on your bucket list, here's a chance to land that "white whale."
