Certainly one of the most popular pasteboards of the 1933 Goudey series if not of all sports cards ever produced, card #92 of "The Iron Horse" Lou Gehrig is one of those issues that even an inexperienced novice can immediately identify on sight. The bold powder blue backdrop surrounding an image of Gehrig stepping into his lefty swing is magical, yet only a handful of specimens surpass this PSA 8 copy on the population report. Accurately centered with a minor inclination for the right border with NM/MT corners between NM/MT+ edges around a noticeably bold and accurate MINT image against a predominantly clean NM/MT backdrop. The registration in the area of Lou's facial features deserves particular mention, extremely well-detailed in delivering how deeply concentrated Gehrig is on the incoming pitch. The reverse is centered with a noticeably bold print impression, exhibiting the typical red coloring at the bottom from the nameplate on the front. Own your piece of the "Iron Horse" with a strong bid on this perennial favorite and industry icon, long considered one of the most significant sportscards in the hobby.
