While the quartet of 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth cards stand as icons within the sports card community, Goudey offered an additional example of "The Bambino" in a separate promotion that allowed patrons to mail in a specified number of wrappers to their Boston office and receive a thick, oversized Goudey premium in return. There were four premiums made by Goudey, the key being an individual shot of Babe Ruth. Here's a wonderful example of the Ruth premium, measuring approximately 5-3/8” x 8-15/16” with a black & white image framed by a gold border and graded PSA 4 VG/EX.. The perimeter appears slightly above-grade and the image of Ruth is superb with some mild blemishes to the surface. The back has the cardboard stand up still intact and unused, very rare for these premiums as they were almost always used to prop the card up or removed. A magnificent, super-sixed example of the legendary Babe!
