Lou Gehrig enjoys a little smoking pleasure while Wes Ferrell shows off the scar from his recent surgery to remove bone chips in this 8x10 Type I photo, originally the property of the Sporting News. Unfortunately, Ferrell never fully recovered and was released by the Yanks in May of 1939.
