He was the first true superstar in the NBA, and George Mikan's 1948 Bowman rookie card holds an honored place in any advanced collection. The featured card is the "blue variation", released before the red pigmentation was added around the letter and number of the Lakers uniform. Anyone who has ever dealt with 1940s Bowman cards of any sport knows that astute centering is almost an impossibility, but this one pulls it off almost perfectly. The corners and edges match up with the grade, but the framing makes this one of the best we've ever seen in terms of eye appeal. If you want a mid-grade Mikan RC, this is the one to have!
