It's not a common occurrence that a card grabs the limelight from Babe Ruth in a baseball card series, but the 1948 Leaf issue of baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson does just that, and deservedly so. Jackie made his debut in 1947 and won Rookie of the Year honors, and added to his trophy case in 1949 as the National League Most Valuable Player. The featured rookie card is graded PSA 5 and has retained much of its glowing yellow backdrop and bright white border coloring. Centered mildly toward the bottom edge but more accurate than most cards from this series, the endpoints boast solid EX or better form while the well-printed reverse is bold and the canvas is problem-free. A true hobby icon that belongs in a world-class collection.
